Crochet cactus - Virkatut kaktukset

Hi Everyone!

When I was a little girl my godmother had many cactus in her house's windows and all were flowering and growing, they were so wonderful. I thought I will have the same collection once. Not yet, because real ones are still waiting for me. I made my own cactus collection! Besides I do not like plastic flowers and plants, my crocheted cactus are flowering all the time and they are safe as I have small busy, curious hands at home (anyway I can not have many needle-like things inside).

Muistan, kun olin pieni tyttö, minun kummitädilläni oli paljon ihania kaktuksia kotona ikkunan vieressä.  Ne olivat ihania, kukkivat ja kasvoivat koko ajan. Halusin saman kokoelman. Oikeat kaktukset odottavat vielä minua. Tein oman kaktuskokoelman! En tykkää muovikukista, siksi virkkasin ikuisesti kukkivat kaktukset. Lisäksi ne ovat turvallisia, joka on tärkeää, koska minulla on kotona pieniä, uteliaita lasten käsiä.

Yesterday I woke up very early so I made some crocheted cactus. It has been a long time on my to-do list, and I am so happy for the result. All are different shape and type, and I used the same yarn for all. I didn't have pattern, I went after my own imagination.

I love cactus but they don't love me, any time I had it, I give too much/to less water and it died. However I have many plants, I still can not declare I have "greenfingers". :-) But what about hook fingers? :-)

Heräsin eilen todella aikaisin, joten minulla oli enemmän aikaa tehdä kaktuksia.  Se on ollut jo pitkään to-do listallani ja nyt olen tyytyyväinen että tein ne. Ne ovat erilaisia vaikka kaikki on tehty samasta langasta. Minulla ei ollut mitään ohjetta, tein niitä mielikuvitus apunani.

Tykkään kaktuksista, mutta kaktukset eivät tykkää minusta, koska aina annan liian paljon tai liian vähän vettä, ja sitten ne kuolivat. Vaikka minulla on paljon kasveja kotona, en voi sanoa että minulla on viherpeukalot. :-) Entä sitten koukkosormet? :-)

Crocheted nursing necklace not only for mums + Pattern. Virkattu imetyskoru ei väin äidille + ohje.

In the last two days I crocheted so-called nursing/teething necklaces, and one for myself, however my kids are not that small anymore. I think these jewels are so pretty to wear them! 

Anyway, If you make it for your baby, still do not forget to use constant supervision with this necklace!

Viimeiset pari päivää olen virkannut imetyskoruja ja tein yhden itsellenikin. Minun mielestäni nämä korut ovat niin nättejä, että ei pelkastään äiti saa käyttää niitä. 

Joka tapauksessa, jos teet sellaisen vauvallesi, älä koskaan jätä vauvaa ilman valvontaa korun kanssa.

What you need:

- cotton yarn

- small crochet hook

- round wooden beads

- ribbon/long chain made with double yarn

- needle

Pattern for crocheting around a wooden bead:

Round 1: magic ring, make 6 SC in ring, pull tight (not too tight), close it

Round 2:  2 SC in each stitch around (12 SC)

Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around (18 SC)

Round 4-6: SC in each stitch around (18 SC) (this time place your bead inside)

Round 7: SC decrease, SC in next stitch, repeat around 

Round 8: SC decrease to close, you can use needle as well, weave in ends.

Take a long piece of ribbon, use needle to weave it through the bead holes than knot the ribbon between the beads so they stay in place.

Tarvitset:

- puuvilla lanka

- pieni virkkaus puikko

- puuhelmet

- rusetti

- neula

Ohje:

1. Magic ring, 6 ks 
2.  Virkkaa jokaiseen silmukkaan 2 ks ( 12ks)
3.  2 ks ja joka toiseen silmukkaan 1 ks, toista (18 ks)
4-6. Virkkaa 1 ks jokaiseen silmukkaan 
7. vähennä (2 ks ytheen), 1 ks, toista
8. vähennä lopettaaksesi, voit käyttää myös neulaa
Neulan kanssa vie rusetti kaikkien puuhelmien läpi.

Patchwork table runners - Kaitaliinat.

I'm back and full of plans and inspiration for new blog posts! 

I have been working on few colorful projects. Now parts of them are ready to show. I love crocheting patchwork table runners, after the first motive I can make the rest, and I decide the shape and the size of the  crochet!

Olen tehnyt muutamia värikkäitä virkkauksia. Nyt ne ovat valmiita esiteltäviksi. Tykkään virkata patchwork kaitaliinoja, ensimmäisen muodon (esim. kukan alla) jälkeen tiedän ohjeen, ja voin päättää virkauksen koon ja muodon!

Festival season, crochet holder this time not for a beer, but for baby bottle! Tölkinpidike tuttipullolle + Pattern/Ohje

Lately I've recognized a new summer trend of crocheting beer/cider/wineglass hangers as hot summer soon hits to Finland.  Actually it's a funny thing, but personally I don't drink very often from a can (and wine I drink for meals, at the table), so when I have chance to drink as a festive, I surely find at least one hand to keep my drink. But not my almost two years old, who's hands are always busy. That's why and because not to miss this trend  I created a crocheted baby bottle hanger for her. She loves it and need is. :-)

Huomasin uuden kesän trendin. Virkattu pidike tölkille/viinilasille, koska kuuma kesä tulee Suomeen ja viileän juoman on oltava lähellä. Se on todella hauska juttu, mutta minä juon harvoin tölkista. Jos minulla on mahdollisuus juoda festareilla, varmasti yksi käsi löytyy aina juotavalle. Mutta minun melkein kaksivuotiaan tyttäreni kädet ovat aina aktiiviset, siksi tein hänen tuttipullolleen vaatteen/pidikkeen, virkattu tölkinsuojus. Tyttäreni tykkää ja tarvitsee sitä. :-)

 Pattern for a 120 ml baby milk bottle:

1. Magic ring, 1 chain + 5 SC to the ring, close the ring. (6 SC)

2. Two single crochet to each sc. (12 SC)

3. 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, repeat around  (18 SC)

4. 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next two, repeat around (24 SC)

5. 2 SC in first stitch, SC in the next three, repeat around (30 SC)
6. 2 SC in first stitch, SC in the next four, repeat around (36 SC)
7-16. SC around
17. DC around
18-19. SC around
20. 5 SC, turn, 4 SC, turn, 4 SC as long as needed, mine is around 50 cm long, then fix it to the other side.
Finally add a ribbon!

1. Magic ring, 6 ks 
2.  Virkkaa jokaiseen silmukkaan 2 ks ( 12ks)
3.  2 ks ja joka toiseen silmukkaan 1 ks, toista (18 ks)

4. 2 ks ja joka kolmanteen silmukkaan 1 ks, toista (24 ks)

5. 2 ks ja joka neljänteen silmukkaan 1 ks, toista (30 ks)

6. 2 ks ja joka viidenteen silmukkaan 1 ks, toista (36 ks) 
7-16. 36 ks
17. 36 pylvästä
18-19. 36 ks 
20. 5 ks, käännä työ, 4 ks, käännä,4 ks toista niin pitkään, että tulee noin 50 cm pitkä, sitten yhdistä˛/ompele toiseen puoleen.
Lopuksi laita rusetti suojukseen.

Crochet summer poncho - Virkattu kesä poncho

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are doing well. Recently I have started to crochet many projects at the same time, and difficult to choose which one of them should I finish first. This one is ready, but I can not wait to start something else again. This is called addiction!

This lovely bright and fresh color summer poncho I crocheted last week, and now ready to wear on beautiful Finnish summer evenings. It was fast to crochet, not only because it is a short poncho, but anyway its a quick pattern. I got inspiration from Instagram, Thanks a lot Mari! Pattern I did not have, I created my own poncho after a photo.

Toivottavasti voitte hyvin. Viime aikoina olen aloittanut monia virkkausprojekteja, ja on hieman vaikea päättää, minkä niistä saattaisin päätökseen ensin. Kesä poncho on valmis, mutten osaa odottaa aloittavani jotain muuta. Onkohan tämä addiktio?

Tämä mukavan kirkasvärisen kesä ponchon virkkasin viime viikolla, ja se on nyt valmis käytettäväksi kauniissa suomalaisissa kesäilloilla. Se oli nopea tehdä, ei pelkästään kokonsa puolesta, vaan myös ohje on nopea. Inspiraatio tuli Instagramista, kiitos Mari!

 

I started with 120 chain, closed them to ring, made 3 rounds with DC and continued with the virus shawl pattern , what I used earlier for shawl.  

Yarn I used was Catania, 3 pcs.

Aloitin 120:llä ketjusilmukalla, sitten 3 kerrosta pylvässilmukkoita  ja jatkoin tällä ohjeella.

Lanka on Catania, 3 kerää.
